Mongolia Update – July 2018

Hello, As many of you know, our church people here in Mongolia have purchased a piece of land with the goal of building a building on it.  Our people have given and saved over the past few years and were able to purchase the land with some help from a couple of churches in the States. Now we have the opportunity to purchase the adjoining lot, which would be very advantageous for us.  We are trying to raise the funds on top of what the people here have saved since purchasing the first lot.  We have opened a GoFundMe page, and [...]

Mongolia Update – September 2017

The past couple of weeks have been exciting for us.  First, we had a very unusual thing happen for the first week of our special services this month.  We, of course, tried to get our friends and acquaintances in to hear the Gospel; and we did have about ten such unsaved people in our service on the 10th.  But beside them, there were 8 people that just came in having seen our sign, not knowing that we were having special services, but having asked about our schedule from some of our children that were playing outside at the time!  I have [...]

Mongolia Family Camp Update – July 2017

Our 2nd annual family camp saw five families represented! We had an adventure getting our vehicles over the mountain to get out there, but no accidents so we praise the Lord for that! For the most part the weather was beautiful, no one got chilled at night, and all had a great time. We are praying for eternal results and growth in our young families as well as us old fogies! Thanks to all who knew about it and prayed for safety. Monday brings Week #1 of our countryside camps for the vbs kids who earned the privilege to go. We [...]

Hello, We are in out fourth week of our summer camp. It is our second teen week. I believe that the devil is fighting us, and we would appreciate your prayers. We had 20 teens today with a few new teens to preach the Gospel to. I hope for a few more tomorrow, as over 30 kids registered to come. I encouraged the teens today to try to get the ones who didn't come today to come tomorrow. We had a good response to our invitations in our two weeks of junior camp. We had about 15 that responded to the [...]

I am writing today to report that the financial need to pay off our van has been completely met!  We thank all who gave, who prayed, and any others who were considering giving! We praise the Lord who has confirmed our faith.  I told our people that I thought it was right to go ahead with the purchase of this van since it is a legitimate need, and a rare opportunity to purchase a van is such good shape.  We did what we could to meet the need, prayed, and trusted God.  What a blessing to see Him honor our efforts [...]

Dear Supporters and Praying Friends, I would like to write concerning a special need for our ministry here.  We have been talking for some time about the need for another van.  We have for quite a while at special times had to make do with the van we have, though the number of passengers exceeded the capacity of the van.  But lately the number of kids that are coming on Sunday has increased to where we have had to start making two trips with our present van, so I decided that it was time to add another one. All vehicles are [...]

Good news! Our church registration, which ran out last October, just got renewed!  That is the cause of us having to leave, so we should be on track to go back on our planned date of March 20th.  There are several hoops to jump through before that, however.  So we would appreciate your continued prayers. They have been having good attendance since we left, with two or three new families coming.  Teen attendance has maintained and even increased some, I think, since we came back, so we are rejoicing in that.  Children's church attendance has dropped slightly in the cold of [...]

This week marked the end of the quarter for our teens.  We usually have a running contest going, and the winners get a nice prize.  This time they went horse-back riding.  One of them couldn't go. One our member's, (some of you know Eebee) mother has just been diagnosed with liver cancer.  She has been in church several times in the past, and again just recently.  She was in church this Sunday and heard the Gospel again.  She seems very close to salvation, but not quite repentant yet. This week we have a Pastor Rodger Bottrell and his son Daniel coming [...]

Hello, Yesterday morning was very rainy, which affected our attendance somewhat.  We were supposed to have three new kids from an area which I have just started working in, but I'm sure the rain affected their decision.  We did have a woman come in the evening from that area, the "first fruits" from our efforts there.  We will try to visit her the Tuesday. We had four unsaved people to preach the Gospel to yesterday morning.  One is the younger brother of one of our ladies.  He might be facing a jail sentence of up to 8 years for a incident [...]

Hello, I haven't gotten in the habit of taking pictures yet, so I don't have any for you this week.  But part of the reason I don't have pictures is a blessing.  I wanted to get a couple of pictures right after the service, but I was too busy.  I preached on the helmet of salvation from Eph. 6, and had some response... A young man came this past Sunday who came when he was a kid to one of our summer programs.  We have tried to get him to come several times over the past couple of years, but Sunday [...]

Hello, Yesterday we had our annual "Market" for our under-13-year-olds.  We had 58 kids.  For the past several weeks they have been collecting "money" by bringing friends, memorizing verses, etc.  Saturday they got their "money" and with it got mainly school supplies from our market.  Today attendance was down some because today was the last day for those who work Monday to Friday jobs to go with their kids to get school supplies.  But we got many visitors over the last few weeks. We will start to concentrate on getting adults in over the next few weeks.  This is a much [...]

Hello, God is mercifully blessing our VBS.  We had over 20 kids in both age groups over the past two weeks, and several raised their hands at the salvation invitation on the last day.  They are being followed up on.  We had several of the new kids in church Sunday morning, so we are rejoicing in that. We had 23 teens with several first-timers in the first day of teen week today!  That is a huge blessing!  We pray that they will be back tomorrow, as some of the new ones are 16 years old and pretty worldly.  But they seemed [...]

Hello, We have been seeing adult visitors come lately, which is a big blessing.  We have also seen good results from our Saturday visiting, with new kids coming almost every week.  Our van has been full for the last few Sundays. I have three men that I am working with at present.  One I believe is saved and we are doing a discipleship course.  Another is supposed to come for a salvation lesson tomorrow.  The third is a friend that we have  known almost since we came here.  I got him started on the discipleship lesson this last Sunday.  The first [...]

Hello, On the 18th of March was Soldiers' Day, which is basically a holiday for men.  It is not actually much of a holiday, but it is a good excuse to have a special program for men.  We had 17 men, with about half coming from another church.  We didn't beat the women, who had 29 on International Women's Day on the 8th, but it was the best-attended men's program we have ever had; and I the best program for women we have had, also. We had several visitors for Easter Sunday.  We have been playing in a gym on the [...]

Hello, We have been in the grip of winter for the past few weeks.  It has been relatively cold after warmer winters the last few years.  The break from school sends many of our church kids to the countryside or relatives', and the Asian New Year puts a stop to all activity for about a week.  But it is a good time as a change of pace, and we look forward to the changes that will occur after the New Year.  The Asian New Year officially marks the start of spring, and temperatures do start to come up normally.  The kids [...]
