      1. The power to determine, adjudicate, or otherwise settle issues or disputes; jurisdiction; the right to control, command, or determine
      2. A power or right delegated or given; authorization
      3. A person or body of persons in whom authority is vested, as governmental agency
    • Biblical Authority
      1. The revelation of God's power and control over all his creation
      2. The revelation of God's desire in the lives of those he delegates authority to
      3. The revelation of God's structure in whom authority is vested
  2. Declaration of Authority
    • God has all authority
  3. Demonstration of Authority
  4. Delegation of Authority
    • Since God has all authority, all other authority is delegated authority
    • Delegated authority
      1. To man: self-government
      2. To the home: husband, wife, children
      3. To the church: pastor, assembly
      4. To the civil government
      5. To Satan: the power of the air
    • All delegated authority is limited authority

    • To protect
  6. Destruction of Authority
    • Satan is doing all that he can to destroy authority
  7. Duty of Authority
    • To serve
