For this episode of Baptist History, we will explore the life of Daniel Webster Whittle.  Most know him as Major Whittle.

At the start of the American Civil War, young Daniel joined the army and went off to fight.  Before he left, his mother left him with a New Testament.  During the war, he would fight along side General Sherman, rising to the rank of Major.

God would show Daniel his need of Salvation by being asked to pray with a dying soldier.

After the war, Major Whittle moved to Chicago where he met D.L. Moody and Phillip Bliss.
