How Satan Hinders the Christian

Some would say, “I have never seen the devil.” You have never seen George Washington, and you never met anyone who did; however, you accept the witness of history. The same history offers evidence of the existence of God and once you accept God’s existence then you must believe the devil is real. But who is the devil? Where did he come from, what does he do, and what is his future? I believe that sometimes we forget how evil Satan is.

II Cor. 11:14; Eph. 6:11
Job 1:9; Job 2:4
Job 1:6; Matt. 4:5-6
Eph. 2:2; 6:12
I Tim. 3:6, Is. 14:12-14
Gen. 3:1; II Cor. 11:3
I John 2:13

Ways that Satan Hinders Christians

  • He distorts & misinterprets the Sacred Scriptures. (Psalms 91:11)
  • He dupes & misleads the Christian to do things they should not. (1 Chronicles 21:1)
  • He brings difficulty & misery into the Christian’s life. (Job 1:6-8)
  • He looks for ways to devastate & maim the Christian’s purpose. (Luke 22:32)
  • He deters & muzzles the Gospel message. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4; 1 Thessalonians 2:18)

Ways to Thwart Satan’s Attacks

  • Resist his attacks against you! (James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8-9)
  • Ready yourself against him! (Ephesians 6:10-23)
  • Recognize his tactics against you! (2 Corinthians 2:11; Philippians 4:8)

Satan is very powerful, and we can never underestimate him, but we also need to look at the handiwork of the devil… we need to know what his work is and then using the Holy Spirit and the power God gives us… we can stop Satan and his advance.

Victory in Christ!

By Connie Bratcher

Sometimes we feel defeated
When things don’t go as planned,
But there’s victory in Christ—
The Rock on which we stand.
He’s our risen, reigning King,
And He does all things well;
He has overcome the world—
Darkness, sin, death, and hell.
All power is given Him
In Heaven and in earth,
Friend, He is our Victory...
When we have the new birth.
If we think we’re defeated,
Then we’ve not understood—
God is in complete control,
Working all things for good.
He knows just how to mold us,
Making us like His Son—
In His strong hand, He holds us…
Gently shaping each one.
He’s with us in fiery trials—
In Him, we’ve overcome,
Nothing touches our lives, friend,
That has not touched God’s Son…
There’s Victory In Christ!
