Most know Daniel Defoe as the author of Robinson Crusoe.  However, most do not realize he was a Baptist. His parents were devout Baptists and passed this knowledge down to young Daniel, but he never made a personal profession of his faith in Christ, until his later years. During this time, God also lead him to start Tennessee Temple University, where hundreds of preachers were trained for ministry.
