Series: Miracles in American History
Learn about the famous crossing of the Delaware and the battle of Trenton in 1776 during the American War for Independence. Badly in need of a miracle, Washington trusted the Lord and prayed for wisdom.
His bold move came on Christmas night as he loaded his men, weapons, and horses onto rafts and boats in complete silence. They proceeded to cross the icy Delaware river that night in an effort to surprise the Hessian troops who had been partying in Trenton.
The move was a success. Follow along as Dawn broke on December 26 and the Hessian troops woke to the American troops on the edge of town and rapidly advancing. Unable to pull their ranks together, most were captured.
