Bible Text: Genesis 33:17-20 | Stephen Gunzenhauser
Introduction: The first thing we see here in verse 17 is that Jacob went on a journey. In the same way, everyone who has been saved has also started on a journey for Christ.
- Wells were extremely important
- They were a necessity of life - human, animal, plant life
- They were represented to be miraculous, a direct result of God's providence
The well must be dug (Genesis 26:19-22)
- In the same way as digging a well, the ministry is going to require hard, physical labor
- You will get tired and even discouraged in the ministry - Galatians 6:9
- Looking back to the past will never help you move forward for Christ
- We will be rewarded in heaven for staying faithful to Christ - 2 Corinthians 2:5
The well must be deep (John 4:11)
- If our ministry isn't deeply grounded in God's word, it will dry up every time
- We must keep close sin accounts with God
From out of the well will flow results
- Things are not always the way they seem in the ministry
- God blesses and uses us in ways we cannot understand
