Shortly after moving into our new home, we had heavy monsoon rains and then a typhoon.  Our very comfortable home flooded, three different times.  Not a happy time!  Workmen came and fixed the problem (so they said) but we flooded again.  After three failed repair attempts, we finally found a great workman.  He determined that the windows had been installed incorrectly.  After two weeks of diligent work, Mr. Jung completed the necessary repairs.  Praise the Lord, all is good now!  Happiness returned! Since planting Victory Baptist Church, a little over eight years ago, Joy and I had lived in the same apartment.  One evening out of the blue, our landlord came by and told us we needed to plan on moving.  She said they were going to let a construction company use the building we lived in as a dormitory for their workers.  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click on the link below. I would like to start off by thanking all of you for the very generous Christmas gifts you sent.  You are a blessing to us! During the 2 years of Covid-19 our church remained completely free from any sickness until 2022 began.  The year started for us with 11 cases of Covid-19 in just 2 of our families.  Then we had five of our preschool students develop symptoms.  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click on the link below. This is the time of the year that is most difficult for our military service members.  They must spend the holidays without their families.  Some have their wives and children here, but many do not.  All of them are separated from someone.  That makes a very difficult time of year.  That's were we come in.  We try to be parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters.  In other words we work to fill the void.  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click on the link below. Time these days seems to get away from me; here it is the middle of October and I realized I haven't sent a prayer letter in a while.  I truly apologize for that!  As I write this letter, I'm battling pneumonia.  It's not Covid, it's plain old double pneumonia.  When you're the only preacher in the church, there's no opportunity to slow down.  So I continued as normal, preparing, preaching, driving our school van and whatever else needs doing!  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click the link below. The pestilence continues here in Korea.  However, the work goes on!  Covid is bad but for Joy and I watching our people leave is worse.  Since our last letter we have had two more families rotate out.  I have been a missionary to the military for 22 years and the pain of seeing our people leave never gets any better.  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click the link below. Between the military rotations (PCS moves), Covid-19, and the anti-God mind set of so many people we are really down in attendance.  The handful of folks we have are great folks!  They are faithful, hardworking, loving people. Satan has used Covids-19 to attack churches in Korea.  We have been forced to close and go to online services several times now.  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click the link below. We were so hoping that 2021 would prove to be a better year than 2020; however, it hasn't started off that way.  We started this year with our church being closed down again.  From just before Christmas until two weeks ago we were back to preaching online.  We have been able to open our church again however, only 10% of our seating capacity has been allowed to attend church.  This pestilence of Covid-19 needs to go away! After spending 8 weeks  preaching online, it's been a huge blessing being back in the pulpit!  Our folks have been very faithful in attendance and in their giving.  I was truly blessed by our church during the 8 weeks we couldn't meet.  They faithfully joined the online services and they faithfully stopped by the buidling to give their tithes and offerings.   To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click the link below. July meant our month in America was over.  We arrived at the Huntsville Airport (that's Huntsville Alabama) just before 5 in the morning.  It was very good that we were early.  Our flight for that day was on-time however, our connecting flight in Seattle had been changed.  We now had a layover of 24 hours.  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click on the link below. The COVID-19 fight continues!  Like most of you, we are dealing with the struggles of ministering in the midst of the pandemic.  Praise the Lord, things have improved here in Korea.  We can now have an attendance of 50 people for each service.  We have also been able to see our Korean folks come back to church!  To continue reading the update from Daviid Lewis, please click the link below. The Corona virus has made things a little tougher, but we adapt and overcome.  Osan Air Base as well as all other U.S. military installations in Korea went into lock down mode.  No one could leave base and we couldn't go in.  Praise the Lord this only lasted 2 weeks.  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click the link below. This year had an amazing beginning!  Since planting this church in 2014 we haven't had one single Korean Air Force person attend the church.  That is rather amazing since our church is located across the street from the Korean gate to the Air Base.  Starting in January we have had four young Korean Air Force Officers attending our services. Since arriving on the mission field over 20 years ago, I have considered our ministry to be Christian Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training.  I spend much time teaching and preaching on things like holiness, separation, surrender, service, soul winning and missions.  It is important to me that when our people move on to other churches they will be soldiers of the corss and not sorry do nothings!  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click on the link below. Judges 2:10 "And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel."  The godly generation died, and a godless generation followed them.  We are living in a time when history seems to be repeating itself!  The generation of military people that we are trying to reach are a very ungodly and immoral society of people.  It seems that their only concern is pleasure and living for themselves.  To continue reading the update from David Lewis, please click on the [...]
